The Wheal Martyn Museum & China Clay Country Park is set in over 26 acres and is located just outside of St Austell town centre, mid Cornwall, on the way to the Stenalee's roundabout.

It is an area centre for the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, situated between the Luxulyn valley and Charlestown, which are part of the World Heritage Site.

Not just a country park, there are indoor interactive displays too, telling the story of the men, women and  children who lived, worked and played in the shadow of the china clay tips in this part of mid Cornwall. There is also a fully preserved Victorian china clay works, with machinery and equipment exhibitions.

This is where Cornwall’s largest working water wheel is housed, as well as other vintage commercial vehicles, and even a visitor platform overlooking a working China Clay pit.

The children’s woodland play area and acres of nature trails and woodland walks help to keep the younger visitors entertained. Often there can be a Tebby Bear hunt, where the younger children have to spot all the little teddies located throughout the attraction - if you get them all right you may even win a prize!

There is also a licensed cafe with outside terrace offering scrumptious Cornish food (and drink) and a gift shop selling a unique range of quality gifts and souvenirs too my birds!
