Initially known as Wade before the bridge was

built, people would pray for a safe crossing at

one of the chapels before wading across at low



Once they had made it the other side they would give thanks to God in the oppposite chapel. The bridge was built in is 1460 and is 320ft long and has 17 arches. In 1312 a licence was granted for Wade to commence with a market and Wadebridge has been a bustling market town ever since (although it is also known as a foundry town).


Wadebridge provides a mix of natural beauty, historical significance and of course tourist attractions for visitors on holiday. There are many popular beaches nearby including Rock, Polzeath and Daymer Bay. Wadebridge is a good base to explore the nearby Camel Trail or even the moors. The Royal Cornwall Show is held in Wadebridge every June.


It is one of the largest agricultural shows in the UK and is very popular with local's as well as tourists..
