An intimate National Trust managed Elizabethan manor and a Cornish gem near Newquay, Trerice remains little changed by the advances in building fashions over the centuries, thanks to long periods under absentee owners.

The Arundells inherited Trerice through marriage around 700 years ago. Today the renowned stillness and tranquillity of Trerice, much prized by visitors, is occasionally pierced by the curious lilts of Tudor music or shouts of excitement from the Bowling Green; surely you will want to try a game of kayling or slapcock? - before you write in its a term for Cornish skittles my luvvers! All this adds to bringing back some of the bustle and noise that must have typified its time as a busy manor house.

Get a real taste of Elizabethan life, replica games, gadgets and suits of armour, play tudor games in the garden. Facilities here also include a garden shop and tea room. This silence is occasionally pierced by curious lilts of Tudor music or shouts of excitement from the Bowling Green (easy now), bringing back some of the bustle and noise that must have typified its time as a busy manor house.

From dressing up in Civil War plate armour to a fun kayling (Cornish bowling) contest, there are lots of things for families to enjoy doing together.

You'll find objects you can handle in certain parts of the house - do ask one of the friendly room guides if you're unsure.

Note: Dogs welcome in the car park only my birds!
