Acquired in 1903, this unusual and atmospheric yeoman's farmhouse is the National Trust's first built property in Cornwall. With a famously wavy slate roof and over 600 years of history it beckons the curious to explore.

The name dates from the Victorian period when it briefly held a licence to be the letter receiving station for the district. Tintagel Old Post Office is a 14th-century stone house, built to the plan of a medieval manor house.

The National Trust, with time and dedication, have managed to restore it to it's former glory. In fact, it was among the one of the first acquisitions of the Trust way back in 1903.

On display is Victorian postal equipment, and a selection of samplers and furniture dating back to the 16th century. With over 600 years of history behind it, there's plenty to see at what is essentially a medieval farmhouse. There's usually something happening at the Old Post Office too, including hands on activities such as craft exhibitions, bread baking and more.

It also has a beautiful back garden to relax in too.

You can even dress up as a Victorian and have your picture taken, find out why the house was never actually a post office or simply warm yourselves besides the open fire! In fact, why not make it the starting point for your walk on the nearby South West Coast Path?

Note: There is no onsite parking. Although there are a number of pay & display car parking facilities on Fore Street (not National Trust). The nearest National Trust parking is on Glebe Cliff, by St Materiana's church.
