Lose yourself in the three valleys of Glendurgan Garden, approx. 5 miles from Falmouth – full of fun, natural beauty and amazing plants. Discover giant rhubarb-like plants (Gunnera manicata) in the jungle-like lower valley and spiky arid plants basking in the sunny upper slopes.

Wander through the garden down to the beautiful hamlet of Durgan on the Helford River: a place to watch birds and boats, skim stones and build sandcastles. Find a boat-seat, gigantic tulip trees and ponds teeming with all sorts of wildlife.

Learn about the Fox family who created this 'small peace [sic] of heaven on earth'. A variety of special events for families and keen gardeners takes place throughout the year too and plenty of fun for kids of all ages. When Alfred and Sarah Fox began Glendurgan almost 200 years ago they had the entertainment of their 12 children in mind. In fact, the cherry laurel hedges of the maze have seen over 175 years of family fun. The maze, which is only waist height by the way, the aptly named giant's stride swing and even a beach (see below) are waiting to be explored.

Look out for dramatic changes of colour in the tree collection at Glendurgan. You'll also notice some unusually shaped and coloured fruits on some of the trees too.

Porth Saxon (known locally as Porth Sawsen) beach is a great place to skim stones and watch wildlife and boats on the river. There is also an information room in Durgan village with stories about the Helford River and its wildlife too. Plus a variety of walks locally.
