The steam locomotives are usually resident at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway, although some make visits to other Railways and some are not accessible to the General Public. The locomotives operate according to demand and availability - please check before making a special visit.

The Bodmin & Wenford Railway Trust was formed in 1987 to enable the developing B&W Railway to take advantage of any grants available. Its principal objectives are to encourage and support the retention and support of the railway heritage.

Facilities for wheelchair bound visitors are available on most daytime trains, with purpose built accommodation for passengers and carers, and a ramp to ease boarding from the platform.

The Dining Train and Murder Mystery train does not have access for wheelchairs and the doors of the carriages (both external and internal) are narrower than the width of standard wheelchairs. The majority of carriages were built in the 1950s and, whilst fitted with toilets, access to them is not possible in a wheelchair as they are fitted with traditional narrow doors.

For those of you with a particularly keen interest in trains, the Bodmin & Wenford Railway offers you the opportunity to not just watch and photograph them, but also the chance to drive one of our locomotives and experience life as a Driver for the day!

For that very special occasion why not consider hiring private accommodation on one of their timetabled service trains, or even your very own private train…? A wide range of packages and options are available to suit all tastes and budgets, and we would be delighted to discuss your individual requirements.
